Synopsis[]
The books open with an unknown narrator asking Izaya Orihara whether he is capable of killing humans, considering that he loves them so much. He concludes that Izaya can only ever wave his knife around without any killing intent and that he is so cowardly and pathetic that it's hilarious.
Elsewhere, Setton enters the chat room to see TarouTanaka laughing. When she is told to look at the chat history to see why, Kanra uses his admin rights to delete the history. The topic moves onto Shizuo Heiwajima, until Saika joins the conversation. As she is new to the internet and lacks self-confidence, she mostly only apologizes before leaving for the night. Setton reminds the remaining online members to be aware of the increasing amount of armed muggers in the streets of Ikebukuro, and Kanra comments that Ikebukuro has never been safe. Once Setton leaves for a night job, TarouTanaka and Kanra discuss Saika's relationship to the slasher via private mode. While TarouTanaka believes that Saika was probably a victim to the virus the slasher may have created, explaining the weird messages from before, Kanra suggests the possibility that Saika is the slasher. The prologue ends with Kanra returning to the topic of Shizuo Heiwajima and stating that depending on the method, it is possible to kill him. TarouTanaka warns Kanra not to involve the Dollars.
