Synopsis[]
Mikado Ryuugamine and Masaomi Kida are settling into their new school. When the pair goes out after class, Mikado reflects on how much bigger his world has become thanks to the internet.
He later witnesses Anri Sonohara being bullied, but Izaya Orihara intervenes and frightens the bullies away. Izaya seems to want to talk to Mikado, but he is hit by a flying trash can before he can begin. Anri and Mikado escape as Shizuo Heiwajima corners Izaya.
Mikado takes Anri to a cafe, where she tells him about her missing friend, Mika Harima. On his way home, he hears the sound of the Black Rider, and running toward it, bumps into a girl being chased by the rider. He helps her escape and brings her home, worrying about becoming a target for the Black Rider and wondering about the scar that wraps around the girl's neck.
